I didn't expect or plan for the words "power" and "courage" to be so prominent when I started a podcast on, of all things, intimacy. But the answers sometimes reveal themselves before we even know the questions to ask. And of course it now makes sense that those words would accompany a term that can be downright terrifying due to its powerful implications. To reveal ourselves intimately to another person--to share the unimaginable dreams we hold for our lives, the deep fears we walk around with, and/or the complaints we have about how another person is affecting us--that opens us up to some serious vulnerability. In August, my guests helped me see these themes so clearly, and yes, powerfully. (Yes, I'm going to courageously acknowledge that my powerful perfectionist allowed me to publish an "end of month" recap nearly a third of the way into the following month.) Mike Sweeney's episode on The Power of Gentle Men got a HUGE response from listeners. This true tough guy's willingness to share painful and emotionally-charged personal stories was profound. Next, Ken Mossman courageously took on a topic that we all face, though not often fully: grief. Later on in the month, Brian Anderson and I discovered a learning path from emotional intelligence to emotional courage and beyond. Picking up on the EQ theme, Elizabeth Solomon and I riffed through deep & creative forms of revealing ourselves, ultimately landing on the power that comes from repair. I even snuck into the middle of that with my most vulnerable (courageous?) solo episode yet, looking at the powerful impact of holding our deepest stories inside of us can do. I created this show for two primary reasons. And I realize these twin themes are embedded in them:
If you've got a little driving time ahead of you or are heading out for a workout, perhaps you'll join me and my guests in the exploration. Thanks, Jim New episodes every Thursday.

As I grew from boyhood into manhood, I was handed a set of cultural beliefs that told me to go it alone, never ask for help, and to prove my manliness at every turn. Today, I'm here to call bullsh*t on all that.
Condensed Intimacy - September 2023 Dispatches from the Expansive Intimacy podcast September brought many things--including my birthday. For one thing, I got to share an episode about the gifts of intimacy on my big day. Even better than that? I had three expert guests from very different walks of life join me in revealing how intimacy is a universal solution to what we need in the world. Before she hopped over to be on The Today Show, I got to interview Dr. Neha Sangwan. Neha is a two-time...
Condensed Intimacy - July 2023 Dispatches from the Expansive Intimacy podcast The word "tension" has been on my mind lately. Summertime often leads me to look at the tension between the time I put into my work and time spent resting, relaxing, and playing. Of course, I feel the tension that seems to be continually tightening around the political, climate, and economic realms here in the U.S. and around the world. I'm also in the middle of a 6-month course where I'm learning about somatic...
